For better or for worse, there are likely a handful of goals and projects you intended on doing this year that just didn’t happen.

Maybe something better came along. Maybe life got in the way. Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.

I remember when I first heard the concept that most business owners waste time on $10 tasks which prevent them from growing. Whereas if they shifted their focus to $1000 tasks (the things that’ll give them an ROI), they’d grow much much faster.

Blaming yourself for not following through on your

Blaming yourself for not following through on your plans is a pretty easy scapegoat (especially at this time of year when you can’t help but reflect on past goals and projects as you look forward to the year ahead).

But I find that this “writing off” of your unfinished goals as an “execution” problem tells only the tiniest part of the story.

If you pause a sec to ask a few questions, you can get to the heart of what stopped you (and you might even end up uncovering some patterns that can be fixed too).

Questions like:

❓(Is it an execution problem?): Was I not setting aside the time needed to get it done? Or was there a problem with my methods?

❓(Is it a prioritization problem?): Was I prioritizing things that don’t actually matter?

❓(Is it a capacity problem?): Was I working on too many projects/goals at once?

More often than not, it turns out to be a prioritization problem.

That’s why I start every single coaching journey with a mini intensive to suss out what matters, what doesn’t. What is the right thing (ROI or heart-wise) to work on next?
