Last month was tough and there were a couple of times I felt like 100% throwing in towel on the agency side of my business.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
My people-pleaser side was back in FULL force and it had me questioning whether it was worth it anymore.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While I LOVE getting to partner with people on their sales funnels and content (and I've been lucky to have mostly dream-to-me clients), saying yes/making exceptions on a few of my non-negotiables led me to a situation where I was putting off my own content, my own goals and not operating in my zone of genius (just like in 2016 when I postponed my wedding because I got caught up running a client's back-to-back launches and working 70 hours weeks on it - fun times...).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I made a couple of vows that year: #1 to my husband who's been my rock this month and #2 that I would NEVER get myself in that situation again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But almost 6 years later, I found myself in that situation again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So whether it's boundaries or your content, be stingy with your yesses. You only have so many of them to give.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So the timing is a little coincidental, as I'm gearing up to share the Minimalist Content Strategy (check the epic blog post in the bio) to help you get off the content hamster wheel and back to what matters most to you.

Most of my clients find themselves in a never-ending cycle when it comes to content...

1️⃣ They finally get little spurts of consistency with creating and sharing content and start to see results and momentum slowly building as a result (YAY!)

2️⃣ Then those results mean they get busier on projects (working with clients, delivering their programs, fielding collaboration requests) or life takes over and they decide to take a quick pause on content to just catch up (BOO-YAY)

3️⃣ That pauses stretches on and now they can't remember the last time they hit send on an email or publish on a post.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🔁 and on, and on, and on again it goes.

A content strategist who doesn't create new content?! 💕

Have you ever received advice that made you question pretty much everything you knew to be true?

I have. In 2020, my coach issued me a serious challenge to not create any new content for an entire year.

My mental chitter chatter was like a roller coaster 🎢

… That’ll never work.

… What’s the point?

… Wouldn’t that make me the ultimate content hypocrite?

… Well, what else would I be able to do with that time I spend on content?

… Most of my content is pretty timeless, isn’t it?

… Wait, could it work?

Given the nature of my content-centred business, I couldn’t imagine how I was going to stay afloat without hitting the publish button on the blog every week.

What I didn’t realize at the time was what a profound impact this would have on my business—in a good way.

Stepping away from coming up with new ideas for content and the pressure to publish something fresh every single week was an eye-opening experience.

And my business? It actually grew that year—even more than it had the previous one.

Why? Because I took the opportunity to repurpose all of the perfectly-still-valuable content I already had and leverage it in a much more strategic way.

Confession: I actually cheated twice that year by creating 2 epic articles (Ethics of Sales Funnels and The Minimalist Content Strategy).

And it's the Minimalist Content Strategy part that made the entire year work–I looked to my existing content to create campaigns around my offers, upgraded the content, paired it with sales sequenes and voila I nearly doubled my revenue.
